Global Excellence Visa Initiative Eligibility

To be eligible for the Global Excellence Visa Initiative, candidates must showcase outstanding abilities in one of these ten key sectors

Mineral and Resource Sectors
Agricultural Technology and Food Sciences
Renewable and Non-renewable Energy
Medical and Biotech Industries
Military, Advanced Manufacturing, and Aerospace
Sustainable Economy
Information Technology
Construction, Tourism, and Cultural Infrastructure
Banking, Financial Technology, and Insurance Services
Higher Education and Research

Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must:

Professional Proficiency

Prove internationally recognized, exceptional accomplishments in their specific field of expertise
Demonstrate current, high-level competence in their industry
Show that their contributions would benefit the Australian society
Provide evidence that they are capable of securing employment in Australia in their professional area
Identify an endorsing individual or entity who is a well-known Australian resident or citizen with deep expertise in the relevant sector

Financial or Academic Criteria

Candidates should meet at least one of the following:

Applicants must exhibit a strong professional background with achievements such as patents, leadership positions, awards, memberships in noteworthy associations, scholarly articles, and other significant professional contributions.

Doctoral students who can demonstrate extraordinary ability and international recognition in the outlined sectors are also encouraged to apply

Endorser Requirements

Applicants must be advocated for by a recognized individual or organization within the same field.

The endorser, an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or an accredited New Zealand citizen, or an Australian entity, must support the applicant’s achievements and global reputation. Additionally, the endorsement must articulate how the applicant will be beneficial to the Australian community and successfully integrate into the Australian job market.

Endorsers are not required to provide employment to the candidate.

Application Process

Step 1: Expression of Interest Submission

Initiate your application for the Global Excellence Visa Initiative by submitting an EOI through the designated contact form. Ensure you have compiled all necessary documentation to prove eligibility before submitting your interest.

Step 2: Visa Application

Eligible individuals who showcase their qualifications will be issued a unique identifier to apply for the Distinguished Talent visa (Subclass 858).

As part of the visa application, applicants must comply with Health and Character prerequisites.

After the application is thoroughly evaluated, and all criteria are met, the department will conclude the review process.

Upon approval, the visa allows permanent residency in Australia.

Family Member Inclusion

Applicants can add family members to their application before a decision is made. Minors may include a parent and that parent’s family unit. All included family members must meet the visa’s health and character requirements
