Student Visa (Subclass 500)

Holders of this educational visa are presented with the opportunity to enroll in a plethora of full-time academic programs. These encompass tertiary education, technical and further education (TAFE) programs, full-time courses in English for international students (ELICOS), as well as primary and secondary school courses, alongside research-oriented postgraduate degrees at accredited educational establishments

Requirements for Visa Qualification:

  • Registered Course Enrollment: Candidates must be enrolled in a program of study officially listed on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS)
  • Proof of Financial Resources: Proof of sufficient funds is required for visa applicants to demonstrate their ability to cover tuition and the cost of living for themselves and any dependents
  • English Language Proficiency: Visa applicants are required to furnish proof of their English language proficiency as part of the visa application process. Failure to provide this evidence may result in visa denial
  • Welfare Arrangements for Minors: Applicants under the age of 18 must provide documentation of approved welfare arrangements for their stay in Australia
  • Family Member Provisions: Visa applicants can apply for family members to join them either at the time of application or at a later date. It is crucial to have the financial means to support any family members living in Australia, including any born after the visa has been granted
  • Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) Requirement: The GTE requirement is intended to ensure the student visa program is utilized for its intended purpose and not as a means for maintaining ongoing residency.
  • Health and Character Checks: Applicants are expected to undergo health examinations as part of their visa application. Additionally, character assessments based on specific questions will be conducted to evaluate the applicant’s suitability
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC): It is obligatory for applicants to secure OSHC before their arrival in Australia, ideally a week before their planned entry into the country
