Qualification Criteria To qualify for the short-term employment visa, applicants are required to
- Engage exclusively in highly specialised work or activities which are short-term and non-ongoing in nature
- Possess the necessary attributes or professional history that corresponds to the specialised work or activity
- Demonstrate sufficient financial means to support oneself and any dependents for the entire duration of the stay

Limitations on Work and Activities
- The work or activity must be completed within a six-month period or less
- There should be no intention of remaining in Australia after the visa has expired. Training of any sort (including workplace-based training) or enrolment in educational programs is not permitted on this visa
- Work within the entertainment sector is prohibited (e.g., performing as an artist or supporting entertainers, directing, or producing content for broadcast or live performance in Australia).
- The 400 visa, however, permits attending promotional events such as film premieres and promoting musical bands without live performances
- Your job role should remain consistent throughout your stay under this visa

Health and Character Mandates Each applicant and their accompanying family members must
- Complete a medical examination within 12 months prior to applying for the visa to meet health criteria
- Acquire Police Clearance from every country resided in for at least 12 months during the past decade after reaching 16 years, to meet the character requirements
- Medical Insurance Should your country of origin not participate in a mutual health agreement with Australia, it is necessary to obtain coverage through Australia's national health program (Medicare) for the entirety of your visa period
