WHAT IS NAATI?

NAATI stands for the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters who gives credentials and accreditation to the applicant / practitioner in a designated language.

NAATI is the body responsible for setting and monitoring the standards for the translating and interpreting profession in Australia. Now, NAATI is widely accepted by many countries in the world.

 

WHO CAN DO A NAATI COURSE?

Courses are open to any individual who is interested in a career as an interpreter/translator.

 

CAN YOU TELL ME IF THERE ARE ANY IELTS REQUIREMENTS TO START THIS COURSE?

Potential students are required to meet IELTS average 5.5 or PTE equivalent, or provide copy of academic documents of courses already completed in Australia or evidence of currently studying in Australia.

 

WHICH VISA TYPE IS REQUIRED FOR NAATI?

Student Visa, 485 Visa, 457 Visa, or any other visa that is issued for a duration of minimum 6 months and allows the student to study while in Australia.

 

WHAT IS THE DURATION OF THE PROGRAM?

24 Weeks (20 wks training, 4 wks holiday)

 

WHAT DAYS AND TIMES ARE CLASSES AVAILABLE?

Hindi: Mondays and Tuesdays

Punjabi: Saturdays & Sundays, with the option of classes to be opened on Thursdays & Fridays when the Saturdays and Sundays class capacity is reached.

 

CAN THE STUDENT TAKE BREAKS/DAYS OFF DURING THE PROGRAM?

There are around 4 weeks holidays as well as public holidays during the entire program.

 

IS IT COMPULSORY FOR ALL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TO TAKE THE EXAMINATION FOR ADMISSION WITH NAATI?

For all international students to be able to reach the community language points, it is important to complete the examination for NAATI accreditation.

This is not compulsory but it is necessary.

 

WHAT KIND OF INTERNAL TEST CAN A STUDENT EXPECT? WILL IT BE SPEAKING, WRITING OR WHAT?

The Diploma of Interpreting is all about oral translation, which is carried out verbally.

The students will be trained on how to take notes and get familiar with the scenario. The notes taken by the students during the test will not be handed as a test answer sheet.

 

CAN YOU GUARANTEE EVERY STUDENT THAT THEY WILL PASS THE TEST?

Providers will provide students with the most comprehensive and complete NAATI accreditation training possible.

In every class, the trainer will deliver 2-3 different topics, which covers most sections of the NAATI test.

Providers cannot guarantee that all students will pass the examination, but Provider will get all students fully prepared for the test.

 

WHAT ARE THE CHANCES TO PASS NAATI PUBLIC TEST?

Naati Course Provider expects its students to attend the classroom based training and meet the of minimum 80% attendance rate.

As mentioned before, Course Providers will offer students the best training possible to help them get fully prepared for the test, so that they will have the best preparation before attending the NAATI internal test and have the best opportunity to pass the test.

 

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS WHO NEED TO GET ADMISSION FOR NAATI ACCREDITATION?

  • The NAATI test is open to any individual who is interested in a career as an interpreter.
  • The student can study simultaneously other accredited or university courses.
  • IELTS average 5.5 or PTE equivalent
  • High School completion
  • Minimum 18 years of age

 

PROCEDURE TO GET ACCREDITATION CERTIFICATE FROM NAATI?

After 24 weeks of training, the student will take the internal test with the course Provider.

After the test, it takes about 2-3 weeks for students to receive the test results.

Once the students finish all the assignments, Course provider will issue the students with the final test result, completion letter, certificate and transcript.

Then the student can submit all the documents with the application form to NAATI for the accreditation.

Please note NAATI accreditation is valid for 3 Years after accreditation.

Only revalidation is required for another 3 years, test is not required.
